Started to look at pricing and what I would actually need to get set up in terms of the Wii and its peripherals. Found that I need to do a little further research into what I actually require in terms of memory and device control. As there will be a maximum of two players I will need to purchase another controller and possible nunchuck. I have been looking into what the nunchuck is actually used for and which games require it; this has been done through some general Internet searching and discussion with several friends that own Wiis, one of which works in games retail. The Nintendo provided a description of the nunchuck controller, and how it is used but not a list of games that it is used with:

It was suggested that I buy Wii Play as it comes with a controller, apparently for the few extra pounds that the game (bundled with controller) costs it is worthwhile. I wanted to make sure that I new just what I could expect from Wii play, the following YouTube post helped:

A tour of the game with commentary is presented which provided me with a good insight into the kind of games that I could expect from Wii Play. These were the sort of games that I was interested in, multi-player and similar to Wii Sports in nature. Not too interested in games played independently at present. The appeal is the physical participation required of the players engaging in Wii play. The solitary playing of the console doesn't appeal as much to me as it used to when I owned a Gamecube.
The most attractive deal appears to be from hmv uk where I can get the console (with controller and nunchuck and Wii Sports included), an extra nunchuck and Wii Play (which includes an extra standard controller) for £227.97. I am not sure about the need to expand memory at this stage but it appears that any standard SD card will work and I have a few surplus SD cards residing in various devices. The console itself seems to have 512MB internal memory which I imagine would be enough for the Play and Sports games.
